Are You in a Mess?

Joel 2:1 Blow the trumpet in Zion. The trumpet is something we blow when we are in need of God’s help. When Israel was attacked by an enemy the trumpet would be the signal for Israels army to assemble and get ready for battle. But we are not told to blow the trumpet in Israel, but to blow the trumpet in Zion. Zion is not just a city from the Matrix movie, but is spoken of in the word as the city of God. God is telling you that when things are going wrong, and you are pretty sure you are losing the battle, you can call on God’s help, and his army will assemble and fight the battle for you. Now God’s pretty tough, and his army isn’t about to lose. Your mess may seem pretty big, but God can squash it like a little bug. You don’t need a real trumpet either, prayer is the general idea to calling in the big guns. Prayer is your trumpet. I get myself in a mess everynow and then, luckily I got a God with a bunch of mercy, who will come to my aid even when I may not deserve it. Think about it, he sent his son to die for me, and I didn’t deserve that. Are you in a mess, get out your trumpet.

Got Your Back Pastor.

In John 6 Jesus is teaching his followers, and a group of them disagree with Jesus, Here’s a rule of thumb. Never disagree with the son of God. Well, these guys turn away, and they no longer followed him. hind sight is 20:20, and in hind sight these disciples really missed the boat. They missed what Jesus was really saying. They walked away from the messiah. How did so many get dooped into walking away? This same kind of thing happens in churches across this nation. Someone disagrees with the pastor, and before you know it a group of people are leaving the church. If it happened to Jesus, it can happen to your pastor. Don’t get sucked into this mess. Stay far away from these people. Their words may seem right, and you may find many tempted to follow the exodus, but you stay true to the man God has put in charge of the ministry. You need to have your pastors back. Don’t let someone dis your pastor, treat it the same as if they were dissing your mama. The devil wants to uproot you out of the church. He wants you to become disconnected, discouraged, and have church at home. Don’t let him win. Support your man or woman of God, and believe in what God has given them to do.

Remember

It’s my birthday today, um, probably not the day your hearing this, but the day I’m writing it. (For my blogging audience this going in the taking a minute radio spots next month) So all these posts on facebook and texts from people saying happy birthday it’s great, I mean, they remembered. When I remember something it does two things to me, it means a thought has taken over my mind and interrupted whatever I had been thinking of before, and then it transforms that thought into an action, like someone going out and getting me a gift, or making me some rice crispies. Hint hint. Deuternomy 8:18 says “But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant.” God’s word reminds us to remember Him. And more than that, remember Him because he GIVES. Our God gives. When we think about God he wants us to see Him as giving. For God so loved the world that He gave, his only son. God is love, and He expresses that love as a gift to us. So Remember the Lord your God today, Let Him interrupt your thoughts right now. If your thoughts are worried, or stressed, then replace that with God, and let Him give you peace and joy. He is confirming His covenant with you, you are blessed, forgiven and free.

Keep Your Big Dream

I find that so many give up on their dreams because some one in their life gives them a reality check. Dreams seem impossible, but that’s what makes them so fun to chase, we need to understand that with God all things are possible. God put’s dreams inside you so that you’ll chase after them, reaching for the stars. God wants you to reach so high that only with His help will you attain your goal. If we can do it on our own, then we don’t need God, and well, we get all the glory. That’s no good. God’s word wants to work in your life to show you that he is strong where you are weak. When Nehemiah went chasing after his dream to rebuild the city wall in Jeruselem, he was met with discouragement from the many who should have been supportive. Sometimes those closest to us don’t understand how we work, and where we are going. But Nehemiah said “The God of heaven will give us success.” The God of heaven will give you success as well. So step out into the land of superheroes and watch the God of heaven get all the glory. And if you fall down, or your cape gets twisted around you, well try again. You only truly fail when you quit. If you haven’t quit yet, then you couldn’t possibly have lost, you were just learning something new that you will need on your journey.
