Before There Was A Radio

Music is so powerful; it has the ability to make us feel something, whether happy or sad, or a good kicking song to help us work out.  Songs make us remember things, take us new places in our minds, and get us dreaming.  It makes our feet tap, or our hands wanna clap.  Now God invented music, and thousands of years before there was radio (or an ipod) there was the psalms.  In Psalms 95 David sings “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord.”  I notice that in the psalms, no matter how David was feeling, whether he was up or down, winning or, well, losing, David found a way to sing to God.  Why is that?  Well, the song can help you remember that God is your strength, and gets God involved in what you are doing.  It can change how you feel.  And it can get your ready to win.  Like “I will say of the Lord He is my refuge and my fortress.”   Yeah, and God is a really good fortress!    So, like David sings, “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord.”  If you need a bit of joy, then sing for it, and do it with others like at church.  It is let “us” sing. A bunch of people all singing to the Lord maybe just the change you need this week.
