Sacrifice

In John 10:18 Jesus said “No one takes my life from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.”  It’s important to know that Jesus was crucified on His terms, according to the fathers will.  He could have stopped it at any time, called in legions of angels, but instead he willingly allowed the people to crucify him.  His life was not taken, it was given, he gave it all up for us.  This is the ultimate sacrifice.  We can learn from this.  Now you don’t need to die for the sins of the world, Jesus already did that, but the willingness to give up we want in order to help others, this is our sacrifice.  There’s lots of stuff you want to do, or to buy, or places to go.  You come home from a hard day and you wanna do nothing, but a good man lays down his needs, he wants to the couch and remote, maybe some chips, but instead invests time in his family.  A mom wakes up at 2am to feed a baby, this isn’t about her.  A friend forgets his own needs and helps somebody.  This is a better way, and Jesus has paved this way, which leads to life.  Jesus was willing to sacrifice, we should be too.
