When Wealth is Worthless

Sometimes the world goes crazy. Proverbs 11:4 says, "Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death." It’s a funny idea, wealth being worthless, but when the world crashes in around, it’s not the money in your bank account, but the character in your heart, that matters. Ever notice in your life that events can happen and suddenly money holds no value? Now this doesn't make wealth bad. It is simply pointing out that righteousness is what is going to count when the storms come. Character, integrity, honesty, faithfulness, love… these things matter. Well, if it’s righteousness that delivers us, then how can we be righteous? Well, I'm perfect. Uh, no, no, I am not. But remember that because of Christ, you are righteous not by how good you are, but by faith, faith that Christ has redeemed you. As it says in Galatians 3:11, "The righteous will live by faith." Faith in whom? In our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, who has announced to us all that He is mighty to save. The world goes a little crazy, but the good news is that you are righteous, you are joint heirs with Christ, and you are delivered not by your own strength, or by money, but by the power of God. And that's a lot of power.
