A famous story tells of the inventor of the telephone, Alexander Graham Bell who filed
the patent for the telephone only a few hours before Elisha Gray. Sorry Elisha… bad timing. Ask a farmer if he can plant in any season and he will tell you no. If you don't plant at the right time nothing will grow. In John 7:6 Jesus is asked about when he is going to the feast in Judea, and he says "The right time for me has not yet come; for you any time is right." Jesus here tells us that timing for him is critical. Think about it, many wanted to kill Jesus throughout His ministry, but Jesus was crucified on exactly the right night, the night of preparation for the Passover lamb, fulfilling the picture that Jesus is our Passover lamb. Timing. Jesus taught us to be wise like a snake. Before a snake will strike it will find the exact position and be fully prepared, coiled, and ready, then the snake will strike decisively. Now you’re not a snake, but Jesus was teaching us to take the time to be prepared for what we are doing, to get in the right position, and then to act decisively. There is something God has been telling you to start or finish, let’s find Jesus’ timing.
