I’ll Not Sit Idly By

Obadiah 1:11 says, "You stood aloof while strangers took his army captive, and foreigners advanced to his gates." Hmmm, so God is saying, “Hey, when my army was under attack and others were advancing on my gates, you just stood by and watched.” I think the world can still be like this. There is a real battle happening every day, a battle where the Kingdom of God is advancing, and the kingdom of darkness is vehemently fighting for territory. Ever notice both good and bad stuff is happening? Politics, greed, culture, media, legal systems, the church… things are under attack. Today’s question is, “What is our role?” God does not want us standing around and watching. Maybe we look at the church and say, “Wow, it looks like the church is running out of money. I wonder if they’re going to make it?” Now, stop it, and get involved. Or your friend is discouraged with life and God, or another is fighting for her life. Maybe your town needs a new mayor? I know you. You will not sit idly by and watch God’s territory being attacked; instead, you will draw your battle lines and say, “Bring it on!” God defends your stuff, and here, He is asking us to defend His stuff.
