Not A Suprise

So you get these wrapped gifts under the tree, but why are they wrapped.  Ah - that way you don't know what is in them.   It's a surprise.  But the greatest gift of all is Jesus, and His coming was not a surprise.  God told us ahead of time.  He said in Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign;  The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel."  Well, about 800 years later, sure enough, it happens just like this.  You can count over 400 prophesies, spanning 4,000 years, of God alerting the world that His biggest gift was coming.  This gift wasn't wrapped in glitter and bows, but came to us wrapped in cloth and laying in a manger.  Our gift, Jesus, then died during the Passover feast, a feast created to memorialize the Hebrews leaving slavery. Jesus was our Passover lamb, who's blood was shed to bring us life, and bring us out of being a slave to this world.  Psalms 22 prophesies of the cross, and mentions his hands and feat being pierced, and his clothes being divided up and gambled for.  God didn’t hide his gift from us, let’s not hide that gift either.  Tell someone what Jesus has done for you.
