Peter Get's It

In Matthew 16:15 Jesus asks the disciples who the people say that the son of man is.  So the disciples are telling him that some say John the Baptist, or Elijah, or Jeremiah…  Then Jesus asks them “Who do you say I am?”  Now Jesus just got done walking on water and feeding 4,000 with a few small fish, so this is a big question.  Well Simon pipes in, “You are the Christ, the son of the living God.”  Simon got something that others weren’t getting.  Here’s Jesus, walking on water and healing people, and teaching a message that is blowing modern wisdom out of the water, and not everyone was getting it.  But Simon was.  At this Jesus changes Simon’s name to Peter, and tells Peter that He’s giving him keys to the Kingdom of Heaven, to prayer, and a destiny to build the church.  Wow.  You see when you get a revelation of who Christ is, you unlock your future.  Jesus begins to redefine you into who you were created to be, and what you were created to do.  You are not what everyone else says you are, and you are not what you do, but you are who God says you are, and you can do what God says you can do.
