When you think of someone serving the Lord you think, oh, I'll bet they got it all together right? Squeeky clean. Whether it’s the tv preacher or the church musician or a Christian friend at work, they live perfect lives. But that can't be right, because you know, they are still human, and humans, are, well, humans. You know, all have sinned. Hebrews 9:14 says "How much more, then, will the blood of Christ cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God." Now our sins are forgiven, but here it is saying that even our consciences are cleansed, and the reason? Ah, here it is, the purpose for the cleansing, ready... so that we can serve God. So we aren't serving God because we are perfect, but because Christ has perfected us. Sometimes we think, oh, I'm not ready to serve God, but if God could only use perfect people to get stuff done, well then, he wouldn't have anyone to use, except me, I'm perfect. Oh wait, great, now I have pride. So now I'm not perfect either, and neither is that guy, or that girl, but we can still do stuff for God, in fact, it is exactly what we should do.
