House On the Rock

You’ve heard the song, “Build your house on the rock and it will stand”  Well this comes from Luke 6:47, where Jesus describes two kinds of life that we can choose to have.  One life is the person who hears what God is asking them to do and then does it.  He is building a house on the rock.  The other fellow, well, he knows the right thing to do, but does something else.  Like tithing, ya maybe God is asking me to do this, but forget it.  Or living with your girl friend.  This man is building a life on the sand.  Now both houses get into a storm, well, that is normal.  Following Christ doesn’t mean no more storms, it just means different results.  The house built on the rock is fine after the storm.  In fact, you could be taking a nap inside the whole time.  The house on the sand, well, it’s no good.  Everything that you have spent all this time building is suddenly falling apart all around you.  So whatever you have been doing in your life until now, choose to obey God right now.  You may still mess up, but Jesus provided grace and forgiveness, get back on track, and build your house on the rock.
