You ever say “Oh that guy, ya I don’t like him.” Or “there is something wrong with her.” Well sure, we open our mouths and say stuff
we shouldn’t say all the time. So what’s
the big deal? Well, James 3:9 says “No
man can tame the tongue… with the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with
it we curse men who have been made in God’s likeness. This should not be so.” My favorite part here is the reminder that
we’re all made in God’s likeness. So
when we speak against man, we are speaking against God who created him. It’s like if I write a taking a minute and
then you hate my taking a minute. So
then you’re speaking against me. (you
don’t hate it do you) When the people of Israel grumbled against Moses,
Moses reply was, you are not grumbling against me, but against God. We can speak against sin, doubt, the bad
things of the world, there’s lots of stuff we can disagree with, but of the
person themselves, well we should not speak against God’s children. If you are cursing others then you are joining
the wrong team. Stay on the right team. Bless others, walk in love and forgiveness,
understand others, and never forget that you sometimes stink it up too.
