To Be Seen or Not to Be Seen

Matt 5:16 Jesus says "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Now in the same sermon on the mount, just a few minutes later Jesus says "Be careful not to do your acts of righteousness before men, to be seen by them." So which is it? Well of course, it's both. Jesus message is not a shallow one, but it is rich in depth and wisdom, for this reason we want to get into the bible and dig deep. The difference between the two was the intention of the heart. Jesus message wasn't about the little detailed rules of everything you need to do, instead it was concepts about the inside of you, and who He wants you to be. Not just the actions of man, Jesus was saying what is important is your hearts intentions. In one, case well, we want to be a good example, but we don't do good stuff just so people will think we are super cool. We should do right because it is the right thing to do. This way whether people are looking or not looking at you, you do the right thing either way.  It’s just part of who you are.
