Have you ever been treated unfairly, wronged, abused, or
violated? So what do you do with all
that? You're mad, hurt, you have these bad
images you can replay. You know that
Jesus went through this too. He was
horribly wronged, prosecuted and punished unjustly, mocked, beaten, bruised,
publicly humiliated, and killed. You probably
know the story, and the phrase in Luke 23:34 as Jesus cried “Father forgive
them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Interesting enough, according to this Jesus
was saying that the people crucifying him did not know they were doing
wrong. Then Jesus asks God to forgive
them. When we’re hurt sometimes at first
we might want God to go get them, not forgive them. Or I want to say something mean to them, or
write a letter or email, But that isn’t quite how Jesus set the example here. So how should we react? Jesus shows us here the right reaction is
love. Its a better reaction cause our
mean words don’t make anything better, usually makes it worse. Instead, ask God for the strength to forgive
them, and that He forgives them too. Now
this is the right answer. Try it today,
and see for yourself.
I don't know if I can ): but I will. It is already bringing tears to my eyes. I'd definitely lose my crutch for sure.
